RRRRUGBY All Blacks v France

Awesome ABs thrash France

12 November 2006
By MICHAEL DONALDSON in Lyon

NEW ZEALAND 47 FRANCE 3
And they said Paris in 2004 was the benchmark All Black performance in the Graham Henry era. No longer. That now belongs to Lyon 2006 as this gargantuan black force destroyed France 47-3 at Stade de Gerland today.

Don't forget this was the world No 1 against the world No 2 - it was supposed to be close. A measure of the difference between the two sides came at the end as France was jeered from the field before the visitors were given a standing ovation.

Unfortunately, I couldn't see the game, but sounds like it would have been a good one to see. Will have to take a look on YouTube later to look for highlights.

It is indeed a fact that the all blacks are number 1.

Indeed, the ABs are the regularly rated the #1 team most years. Who cares about the odd misisng world cup if the alternative (England) means losing 8 of your last 9 matches.

1(1) NEW ZEALAND 94.59
2(2) FRANCE 85.94

Current 1 and 2 standings from the IRB. A massive gap between us and the rest at the moment.

My mobile phone email address is actually a play on the phrase "it's a fact that the all blacks are number 1". Never ever get spam, but then I'm also probably the only one who can remember my address off the top of my head.

England have been the poorest world champions in World Cup history by my judgement. I just stuck a label on a previous post I made about their "world champion" status back in 2004 after Australia and New Zealand had walloped them completely post the World Cup. To their credit they did lose a lot of their team to retirement after Australia let them win in the final though (to an extra time drop goal!? pathetic! that's not rugby :-)).
